Candlelight Reflections | Honoring Loved Ones Impacted by Dementia

Support, Strength, and Hope

Each November, communities across North Carolina come together for Candlelight Reflections, a heartfelt series of candle lighting ceremonies in observance of National Alzheimer’s Awareness Month and National Caregivers Month. These gatherings offer families, caregivers, and community members a meaningful way to remember those who have passed, honor loved ones living with Alzheimer’s and dementia, and foster hope, reflection, and unity.

A Tradition of Awareness & Support

In 1983, President Ronald Reagan declared November as National Alzheimer’s Awareness Month — a cause that became deeply personal when he was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s 11 years later. Today, millions of families across the country face the challenges of dementia. Through Candlelight Reflections, we shine a light on their journeys, raise dementia awareness, remember those who have passed from dementia, and provide support for caregivers and families in need.
