Dementia Alliance of North Carolina is thrilled to announce the addition of two exceptional professionals to our team: Lisa Hughes as Education & Outreach Manager and Lisa Webb as Senior Operations Manager. Both bring deep commitment to our mission, valuable professional expertise, and personal connections to dementia care. This expansion reflects our growth as an organization and our dedication to strengthening support for families across North Carolina.
Lisa Hughes
Education & Outreach Manager
Lisa earned her degree in Psychology from the State University of New York at Binghamton and a Master of Social Work degree from the University of North Carolina at Pembroke. Throughout her career, she has supported older adults in hospital settings, long-term care communities, and independent living environments. Her experience spans both for-profit and nonprofit organizations, where she has provided direct support to older adults and helped family members navigate caregiving challenges through support groups, education, and resource connection.
Lisa’s connection to dementia is deeply personal. Both of her grandmothers developed dementia later in life, and she witnessed the love, patience, and challenges her parents experienced as caregivers. Today, she supports her father as he cares for her mother, who is living with dementia. From a distance, she offers guidance on what to expect, support during difficult days, and help with communication during challenging moments. While supporting her family from afar is not easy, Lisa is grateful to help in meaningful ways and to walk alongside them in this journey.
“I’m excited to bring my personal and professional passion for dementia care that has grown through years of serving my local community to communities across the state. Joining an organization so well known for the positive difference it makes in others’ lives makes this opportunity even more meaningful. I look forward to sharing my experiences, learning from colleagues and community members, and building relationships that help strengthen and support those living with and caring for those with cognitive decline.”
Fun Facts
Born and raised in New York, Lisa has never been to New York City. She’s also known for adopting special needs animals, including a toothless cat, a three-legged dog, an asthmatic cat, and a heartworm-positive dog.
Lisa Webb
Senior Operations Manager
Lisa Webb is a nonprofit operations professional with more than a decade of experience strengthening organizational systems, financial processes, and mission-driven programs. She has built her career around creating the structure, clarity, and behind-the-scenes support that allow teams to serve their communities with confidence and compassion. Before joining Dementia Alliance of North Carolina, Lisa spent over ten years with the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, where she supported multi-chapter financial administration, donor documentation, compliance practices, and cross-team coordination. She is known for her calm, service-oriented approach and her commitment to accuracy, transparency, and operational excellence.
Lisa has a deeply personal connection to dementia. Her family experienced it with her father-in-law, whom they ultimately lost to the disease. Being part of that journey showed her how emotional and overwhelming dementia can be for families, and how much it means to have support you can trust. That experience is a big reason DANC’s mission feels so meaningful to her.
“I’m excited to bring my operations experience to Dementia Alliance of North Carolina because I believe strong internal systems directly support compassionate, meaningful work. DANC’s mission of walking alongside families with dignity and care resonates deeply with me, and I’m grateful for the chance to help create the structure and reliability that allow the team to serve families across North Carolina.”
Fun Fact
Lisa loves exploring new places around the U.S. and never passes up a chance to visit Disney World.
The addition of Lisa Hughes and Lisa Webb to our team reflects Dementia Alliance of North Carolina’s commitment to growth and impact. With their expertise, compassion, and personal understanding of dementia’s reach, they join us in strengthening our ability to serve families across North Carolina with education, resources, and unwavering support.
