The Dementia Alliance of North Carolina (DANC) is excited to announce that Elizabeth Hullender has been appointed our new Executive Director.

Elizabeth brings over 16 years of nonprofit leadership experience, most recently serving as Vice President of Donor Engagement at Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Triangle. There, she led strategic fundraising initiatives, built transformational partnerships, and supported families during some of their most challenging times. She is known for her visionary leadership, collaborative style, and relationship-centered approach that prioritizes community, connection, and long-term impact.

“After a thoughtful and thorough search process, we are proud to welcome Elizabeth Hullender as the new Executive Director of the Dementia Alliance of North Carolina,” said Tim Murray, Executive Board Chair. “Elizabeth brings nearly 2 decades of experience in strategic fundraising and nonprofit leadership, along with a deep passion for supporting families living with dementia. She impressed us with her vision, financial acumen, and collaborative approach to leadership. We are confident that under her guidance, the organization will continue to grow in impact, sustainability, and service to our community.”

A native of Kings Mountain, North Carolina, Elizabeth’s connection to the Dementia Alliance’s mission is also deeply personal. Her grandmother, Betty, lived with dementia for many years — an experience that fuels Elizabeth’s drive to ensure every family in our state has access to the support, resources, and dignity they deserve.

“My grandmother passed away nearly two years ago after a long journey with dementia, and stepping into this role feels like both a natural next step in my career and a deeply personal way to honor her memory,” — Elizabeth Hullender, Executive Director, Dementia Alliance of North Carolina.

“I’m excited to join the incredible team at Dementia Alliance of North Carolina and build on the strong foundation that Heather and her team have created. Together, we’ll continue to ensure that no family in our state faces dementia alone.”
