Accepting the Challenge

Accepting the Challenge is the “hands-on,” multi-disciplinary training program of Dementia Alliance North Carolina, designed to help professional caregivers provide the best care possible and in turn, offer a quality of life to people with dementia. It is taught by master trainers, Melanie Bunn RN, MS, GNP and Teepa Snow MS, OTR/L, FAOTA, using interactive classroom lecture and demonstration including on-site interactions with Alzheimer’s patients. Viewers will be challenged to open their minds and hearts to a new way of thinking, learning and caregiving.

The training program material is divided into 4 modules:
Module 1: What is dementia? • Symptoms of Alzheimer’s
Module 2: Physical Approach • Communication Skills
Module 3: Offering Assistance • Evaluating Cognitive Levels
Module 4: Meaningful Days (Activities) • Problem Behavior

Continuing Education Credits:
This DVD offers 4 CEUs (Continuing Education Credit) to people who use the testing materials included.The CEUs for Accepting the Challenge have been approved by North Carolina Division of Health Service Regulation – 4 hours for Dementia Training – #ALZ417

To qualify for CEUs, take the test at the end of each module in the DVD and record your score (you must score 70% or higher) on the CEU card. Once completed, submit the card with a $10 processing fee and mail to:
