In Memory of Mary Hansen
by Susan Robson
My mom had such a kind heart. She was so creative and gifted in many things, although she did not ever acknowledge her gifts. She had taken several candy making classes long ago. Then at Christmas time, she would create these enormous trays of assorted chocolates, caramels, truffles, and other candies for my dad’s office, my brother’s work, and she even made a large tray for the local radio station because she listened to every morning at 6:00 am and felt a connection to the announcers and anchors.
Though she would not take credit for it, she did teach me how to cook and gave me a love of cooking. Her love for animals and the natural world was immense. She was the reason I went into wildlife science as a major in college.
I thank her most of all for praying for me and starting me on my faith journey.
