Respite is a short term break from caregiving. It may mean getting away for a weekend, having time to get much needed medical care or even go to a family gathering.
Respite assistance is financial help to make the break possible.
The Dementia Alliance Caregiver Assistance Program is designed to support family caregivers throughout the state by awarding up to $500 financial assistance or reimbursement during a time of need, allowing caregivers temporary relief (respite) or resources for their caregiver journey. The program is for care partners of people diagnosed with dementia and living at home.
Step One: Before applying, have you explored other respite programs from your local Area Agency on Aging (AAA) or Project C.A.R.E.? If not, contact those agencies for respite services first.
